Gustavo with Hillside Choir at Roswell's Christmas Tree Lighting

Last Saturday, December 5th, Gustavo together with Hillside Elementary Choir sang at the Roswell Historic Center Park, during the Christmas Tree Lighting. Ms. Lundy was there to keep the children in tune. It was very very very cold... Finding the children after the singing was over was quite a bit of work too ;-)

Our labor day weekend in the Apalachian Mountains (NC)

We had a great labor day weekend doing all sorts of outdoor activities in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.

Bernardo is ready for Middle School

 

Bernardo started Middle School this August. Actually he started twice: two days at Haynes Bridge and then sudden surprise change to Fulton Science Academy. But, the whole thing was uneventful, both school's staff were very helpful and things worked out just fine. In the picture, he is wearing his uniform (kakhi or blue shorts or pants + red, white, blue or gray polo shirt with the school's logo) - he is very handsome as always...

Drippy Dropperson: Bernardo's drawing selected!

The City of Roswell challenged Roswell’s third, fourth, and fifth graders to draw pictures of Drippy Dropperson conserving and protecting water. The top 12 drawings would be featured in the new Drippy Dropperson Coloring Book that will be distributed to the community through schools, doctor’s offices, restaurants, and retailers in Roswell.

Back in November when the info came out, Bernardo made his drawing, and guess what his was one of the selected drawings, and he was recognized on March 2nd at the City Hall of Roswell. We were SO proud!

Winter 2009 activities and events

We have been busy the past few months, and now that spring is here, there is a need to post all our winter activities and events, so there is a whole bunch of photos to share...

Back in January, we answered Obama's called to service on MLK's day by helping the environment, taking out privet at the Chattahoochee Nature Center.

Still on the nature theme, for the first time we visited Autrey Mill Preserve, which is so close to our house. We intend on coming back frequently.

Being in Atlanta we don't get to experience snow as before. This year, for the first time, we decided to try out the made-up snow at Stone Mountain. The day was beautiful, but the 'snow' was pretty disappointing. We learned ;-)

Choir Presentation

On January 10, 2009, the choirs of local elementary, middle, and high schools got together for a special presentation. Here is a sample with all of them singing together..

In December'08 Bernardo participated in the winter festival organized by his piano teacher. Tio Ricardo, Tia Paula, Francisco, and Antonio were lucky enough to be able to see it live!

A visita das Fatimas...

Em novembro as Fatimas nos deram o prazer da da tao esperada visita!
Foram so 10 dias mas deu para matar as saudades. As criancas adoraram as comidinhas brasileiras que a tia Fatima fez: picanha com banana, feijoada, e acima de tudo a empadinha!
Passeamos bastante e elas compraram MUUUUIITOOOO!
Estou ate agora esperando as fotos que ela tirou e prometeu me mandar. Enquanto isso, aqui estao algumas tiradas com a minha maquina...
